Smokey the Bear - Lesson Plans, Activities, Scripts, More Illustration

Smokey Bear's Birthday Aug 9
Lessons, Games, Activities

We have corrected Smokey Bear's birthday from Feb to Aug thanks to a delightful note we received from Helene Cleveland, USDA Forest Service, Fire Prevention Program Manager. She gave us Smokey's correct birth date, August 9, 1944, the date the character of Smokey Bear was created.

Happy Birthday Smokey!!

Call the nearest office of the National Forest Service

See what Smokey the Bear is up to in your neck of the woods. You might be able to arrange for Smokey to visit your classroom, along with a Ranger friend from a state or national park. Ask the ranger who answers the phone if they have any fun freebies for your class: Smokey the Bear posters, buttons, bumper stickers, or coloring books.
